Corsair K95 RGB Platinum Review – The Best Keyboard I’ve Ever Used

In Hardware Reviews, Reviews by AustinLeave a Comment

Boy do I have a treat for you today! Today we’re going to be talking about the Corsair K95 RGB Platinum, which I believe to be one of the best keyboards you can get your hands on! (At least based on my experience anyways!)

This keyboard is amazing, and if you were previously using a membrane keyboard like I was before I started using this bad boy, you are never going to want to go back to using it!

This keyboard literally has everything a gamer could ever want. Not only do the big features matter, but it has a ton of little features built into it that make it even better!

My Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 Genius Stars.

Colors: Available in Black and Gunmetal.

Supported OS: Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, & Windows 10.

Keyboard Type: Mechanical

Switches: Available in Cherry MX RGB Speed (keys activate easily), and available in Cherry MX RGB Brown (keys activate easily, but not as easily as Speed).

Brown is perfect for those who want a balanced feel in typing and gaming touch responsiveness.

Speed is super responsive and great for those who like keys that are really easy to press.

A bit pricey, will need to use up 2 USB ports, loud to type on (but you could always get rubber dampeners to reduce the noise), can be difficult for a beginner to make custom color profiles and to program the macro keys.

Although this keyboard is a bit pricey, I think it’s worth the price for all the features it is packed with.

I don’t think I’m going to be getting another keyboard for a while because this is one of the best keyboards I’ve used and it just feels like it will never break.

I think I’ve fallen in love with it because it has everything I need for gaming and other keyboard stuff. You will need two USB ports though, which doesn’t bother me too much, but may bother others who have a limited amount of USB spots.

It is a mechanical keyboard, so it tends to be pretty loud in my opinion, but there are ways of fixing this if you don’t like the noise. You could do things such as getting rubber dampeners to help reduce the sound emitting from your keyboard.

Some Other Stuff to Note

Even though the Corsair K95 has a little rubber in some bottom spots, you may want to get a large gaming mouse pad to prevent the risks of it from scratching your desk.

I’ve already written a post on an inexpensive, high quality gaming mouse pad that you can read about here. It’s the one I currently use, and it’s been an excellent investment.

Another thing to keep in mind: when choosing between Brown & Speed switches, it is very important to choose whatever is most comfortable for you.

If you aren’t sure, Brown is an excellent choice for an all around balanced feeling in gaming and typing. Speed is better for gaming over typing, but more for those who really like easy to press responsive type of keys.

If you want to know how to remove keys from this mechanical keyboard, then feel free to read my tutorial on how to use the keycap puller that comes with it. If you don’t have the K95 or a keycap puller, I talk about alternatives you can use for keycap pullers and how to remove keys from almost any mechanical keyboard.

Other than that, I hope this post has been a great help for you. I want you to know that it’s OK to ask questions too! So if you have any just leave me a comment, and I’ll try to get back to you!
